This is the present-day map of Ohio’s Congressional Districts
Think about equal representation, then look at this map. Does this district map make sense? It shouldn’t. That’s the goal. The only way to maintain power is to split up highly populated (democrat-leaning) areas. This is the only way unpopular topics become the priority of our state and our country. It should be a priority of our state and country to make these gerrymandered maps illegal, and ensure right wing politicians with no backbone don’t continue to win elections and advance unpopular initiatives. These maps are the ONLY reason the GOP has a majority in the US House of Representatives. Only you can change this. Make your voice heard. Vote. When they vote against YOUR interests, VOTE THEM OUT. When they refuse to answer or return your calls, VOTE THEM OUT.
There is a reason the 5th district only includes the Toledo suburbs, but not Toledo or Sandusky. There is a reason counties bordering Indiana have the same representation as a county 20 minutes from downtown Cleveland. This is the only way to stay in power. These maps do not ensure equal representation with our best interests in mind. A citizen of Lorain, Elyria, or Oberlin (voted 89% democrat in the 2024 Presidential Election) has almost no shared interest with a citizen of Van Wert (80% republican 3 hours away). As a result, a democrat in Lorain, Elyria, or Oberlin has zero representation from Congressman Latta.
Pictured: the farthest northeastern point (A) of district 5 to the farthest southwestern point (B). 209 miles and OVER 3 HOURS AWAY. To get from Avon Lake (A) to Cleveland, it takes a little over 20 minutes and you will have visited 3 DISTRICTS! Just a quick visit through MAGA Max Miller’s 7th district to get to the second largest city in Ohio. Check out Max’s 7th District that includes the cities of Bay Village, Rocky River, Medina, Lodi, Wooster, and cities outside of Mansfield. A citizen of Rocky River does not have a lot of shared interests with a citizen in rural Wayne county.
The whole point of this Gerrymandering is to split the democratic-voting, higher populated cities and combine them with huge rural areas to suppress our voices.
